Sebastien Loeb, one of the biggest names in motorsport, faced a major setback at the 2025 Dakar Rally. After a dramatic barrel roll during Stage 3, his Dacia Sandrider underwent a detailed inspection by FIA officials. The verdict? The roll cage was deemed compromised, and Loeb was disqualified from continuing into Stage 4 for safety reasons.
But the story doesn’t end there. Loeb’s team, Dacia Sandriders, immediately filed an appeal, arguing that the damaged part wasn’t critical to the vehicle’s overall safety. In their official statement, they acknowledged the importance of safety but expressed deep disappointment, standing by their driver.
If the appeal is successful, Loeb could rejoin later stages of the rally and still earn points for the World Rally-Raid Championshipβa crucial battle against rivals Toyota and Ford. However, his hopes of a strong Dakar finish are gone after losing significant time during Stage 3 due to the crash and other mechanical issues.
