Dakar Rally 2025 | Lead Changes & Crashing Hopes in Stage 6!
Dakar On Fire! Lead Changes & Crashing Hopes in Stage 6!
The day was dominated by X-raid Mini, who put in an incredible one-two finish with Guillaume de Mevius and Joao Ferreira. De Mevius took his second career stage victory, delivering a masterful performance. But the battle was incredibly tight!
The overall leader, Henk Lategan, saw his lead cut to just 7 minutes. A real twist of fate! And what about Nasser Al-Attiyah? The Dacia driver unleashed a breathtaking final stage push, gaining position after position to finish third, just 2 minutes and 1 second behind the winner. A nail-biting finish!
But there were also some dramatic turns. Yazeed Al-Rajhi, who had dominated most of the stage, lost positions in the end, slipping to fifth place. A real shame for the Overdrive Toyota driver. An excellent performance instead for the factory Toyota of Botterill, who was the long-time stage leader, but a drop in performance in the finale relegated him to fourth.
For Ford, it was not a particularly brilliant day. Mattias Ekstrom finished eighth, over 8 minutes behind, while Nani Roma finished further back. Problems also for Lucas Moraes, who lost an hour and a half due to mechanical issues, and for Guerlain Chicherit, who had to abandon the stage after an accident.
Going back to the battle for the stage victory, South African Guy Botterill had raised the hopes of the Toyota team, dominating the first part of the special. But a sudden drop-off a few kilometers from the finish allowed De Mevius to overtake him and cross the finish line first. The final stretch of the race was crucial, with Ferreira gaining ground on Al-Rajhi, securing second place.
In the overall standings, Lategan remains in the lead, but his advantage has been reduced to just 7 minutes and 16 seconds. The battle for the title is wide open! Ekstrom is third at 22 minutes behind, while Al-Attiyah, penalized in the previous stage, now finds himself 30 minutes and 25 seconds behind. The top 5 is completed by Mitch Guthrie Jr and Mathieu Serradori.
In short, a Stage 6 full of adrenaline, with constant shifts and unexpected results. The 2025 Dakar Rally is as unpredictable and exciting as ever! Who will manage to claim the final victory?
